Abstract

Second order nonlinearity of two kinds of radio-frequency sputtered glass films, Corning 7059 glass film and Asahi-AN glass film, on Pyrex glass substrates was exhibited by corona poling. In the glass film waveguides, which have the center symmetry, blue and green phase-matched second harmonic generations were respectively observed using the modal dispersion relation of waveguides. This result is interesting and mystery. In this paper, the phenomenological mechanism responsible for the induced second order nonlinearity in the corona-poled glass film waveguides are also considered.
