Abstract

Shared concentration output queuing (SCOQ) switch with middle buffers at Batcher-banyan network is proposed in order to decrease packet loss probability due to packet contention at Batcher-banyan network. The proposed model consists of L switching modules and has simple structure when L is small. The switching module consists of filters, Batcher-banyan network, middle buffers and output buffers. The proposed model can decrease arrival rate at the middle buffer by using a filters and reduce packet loss due to blocking in Batcher-banyan network by the middle buffer. It is shown by numerical calculation and computer simulation that our proposed switch is useful to decrease the number of stage at Batcher-banyan network and the packet loss probability.
