Abstract

In this paper, we present a simultaneous approximation of the magnitude and the group delay in FIR digital filters. It is very important for filter design to specify both magnitude and group delay. There are few research works to meet simultaneous specifications on the magnitude and the group delay. This method is based on solving a least squares solution iteratively. At each iteration, the desired responses of the magnitude and the group delay are transformed so that these error responses have equiripple. By using our new algorithm, we can obtain a better result in the solution of FIR filter design problem.
