Abstract

Optimum preparation of starting materials or precursors of mixed oxides via solid-state reaction is discussed with a goal of phase pure, well-crystallized fine particulates. After discussion on general condition on good precursors including the role of additives, results of ongoing case studies are displayed, including the systems, BaBi2Ta2O9 (BBT), Ba(Mg1/3Ta2/3)O3 (BMT), and Li4Ti5O12 (LT). Particular emphasis is laid on the importance of appropriate mechanical activation and choice of starting materials.
