Abstract
Spatial and temporal variation of secondary flow during intermittent oscillatory flow in model human central airways were studied. The spatial and temporal variation of lateral mixing were evaluated by determining the intensity of secondary flow as the square of the secondary flow velocity in the cross section. Results showed that the phase between 0 and πcorresponded to the inspiratory phase and π - 2π corresponded to the expiratory phase.
