    Abstract

Speckle photography is a simple and versatile technique to derive deformation and strain in solid mechanics except tedious developing process of a photographic film. Since a liquid crystal television (LC-TV) has the function of spatial light modulator just like a photographic film, the LC-TV can be used in stead of a photographic film in the speckle metrology. Electronic speckle methodology can be expected to reduce the processing time. In this study, utilization of LC-TV to the speckle methodology and a new method of automatic Young's fringe analysis with LC-TV and position sensitive device (PSD) are proposed. Results of preliminary experiments proved the efficiency of utilizing the LC-TV and PSD for the speckle methodology.
