Abstract
A new architecture of relational database computer, called SPIRIT, is presented. The proposed SPIRIT has the following major functionally specialized components. The Transaction optimization Module (TOM) translates user queries written by several non-procedual languages into optimized SPIRIT Instructions. The SPIRIT Controller (SC) is responsible for optimal scheduling of multi-transactions and coordinating the actions of other components. The Value Conversion Processor (VCP) converts the real items into the coded items in order to compress the operated data. The Code Conversion Processor (CCP) converts the coded items, which are results of set manipulation in the Pure SPIRIT, into the real items, which are answers of the query.
