Abstract
The reaction of bimetallic ConVm+ cluster ions, generated by laser vaporization, toward hydrogen was investigated by using a fast-flow reactor. Compared with pure Con+ cluster ions, the reactivity of Con-1V+ cluster ions exhibits a drastic decrease at n ≥ 13 similar to that of neutral ConVm clusters. The result can be explained in terms of their geometrical structure; at n ≥ 13, the V atom is located at the center of the cluster and is surrounded by Co atoms.
