Abstract
The substitution of Mn for Cr in crystalline CrGe compounds can change the magnetic characteristics from paramagnetic to ferromagnetic to spin glass, but the same substitution in amorphous CrGe causes a change from paramagnetic to spin glass with no discernable ferromagnetic phase. This difference is believed to be due to the difference in the magnetic polarization of Mn. The freezing temperature rose with increases in Mn while µeff shows almost no compositional dependence. The magnetic susceptibility of these compounds followed the Curie-Weiss law.
