Abstract
A new staging system for lung cancer has been proposed to UICC and AJCC by the staging committee of IASLC (International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer). For the present revision, the IASLC initiated a "staging project" early, and accumulated data of more than 100,000 patients from all the continents. Based on these, the agenda was established through the simulation and validation, in which the new categorization of T according to tumor diameter and satellite nodules, the creation of new lymph node chart, and the new stage grouping are characterized. The new staging system (UICC-7) is scheduled on act from January, 2010.
