Abstract

This article gives a new experimental estimate of the fraction of 11C nuclear absorption in plastic scintillator, (C9H 10)n, according to nuclear reactions, and compares the results with an empirical formula based on a microscopic nuclear reaction model by Kox et al. [Phys. Rev. C 35 (1987) 1678]. The result establishes that the model is applicable to 11C.
