Abstract

This paper discusses the internal thermodynamic consistency among selected experimental data regarding specific volume, velocity of sound, and specific heat-capacity for water and steam, with a fundamental equation of state developed by Hill (1990) and the IAPWS Skeleton Tables 1985 which were originally issued in 1985 and revised in 1994 for conversion into new temperature scale. In addition, a simple and precise equation of state for liquid water has been introduced. Using the equation of state, precise measurements for thermodynamic properties of water at saturation and at atmospheric pressure are discussed and the thermodynamic-property values are presented at temperatures below 358 K including the supercooled-water.
