抄録

A case of drug-resistant amaurosis fugax is presented. A sixty-six- year-old male, who was admitted to the Department of Neurology of Keio University Hospital with the diagnosis of transient ischemic attack, experienced sudden loss of vision in his left eye and was referred to the Department of Ophthalmology. After recovery of vision with emergency treatment, he underwent prophylactic medication. Neither a low dose of aspirin nor anticoagulants could prevent the attacks and he experienced a total of 15 attacks in the following 2 months. However, subsequent treatment with higher dose of aspirin coupled with dipyridamole prevented further attacks completely.
