N2 - As the fundamental stage for developing the ceramics sliding guideways, the friction and wear characteristics were investigated. The silicon nitride ceramics shows the extremely low friction coefficient and low wear rate under water lubrication in the wide range of sliding velocity and contact pressure. The silane coupling agent is very effective to decrease the friction resistance at low sliding velocity and to suppress the stick-slip motion.
