N2 - We propose a ground-to-train communication system using free-space optics between a train and the ground. In this paper, we evaluate BER characteristic in outdoor experiment using test train. The experimental results lead to the conclusion that the proposed system is a promising candidate for train communication from the viewpoint of BER characteristic.
