A new signal processing system for a two-dimensional laser Doppler velocimetry (2-DLDV) is proposed. The system consists of the burst spectrum analyzer (BSA) proposed by L. Lading and it allows carrying out simultaneous processing of 2-DLDV signals which conventionally require two signal processors. The BSA makes possible measurement for a case with a low SN ratio or of a flow with a violent velocity variation, and is extremely effective in LDV measurement. Since the BSA makes use of FFT, it is possible to process signals with two frequency peaks. This characteristic is recognized and the concept of one signal input and one frequency output in the conventional LDV signal processor is relinquished. A new method is conceived for processing the signals in the two-dimensional LDV processed with one BSA. The velocity measurement of a rotating acrylic disk is performed and the effectiveness of the method is demonstrated.
