抄録

The water crisis is a severe problem in the southwestern part of Bangladesh, which has been identified as one of the climate hotspot regions. Researchers and community people collaborate with the government and local administration to find a better and sustainable water solution for the community people. The sustainable, smart water solution can be developed through the active participation of local community people with scientists, i.e., citizen science. Citizen science is the active participation of general people in research design and data collection in collaboration with scientists. This chapter introduces the state of citizen science in the water management context. It explores the potential of citizen science to complement more traditional ways of scientific data collection and knowledge generation for smart water solutions in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. A full description of the present water status, causes of the water crisis, the health risk of the community people due to the usage saline water, and smart water solution are included in this chapter to show comprehensive water management techniques.
