Conductive thin-film phosphors prepared by a sol-gel method

ZnO thin films with dispersed phosphor particles containing EuF3 and EuOF were fabricated by a sol-gel method using trifluoroacetic acid. ZnO thin films with dispersed EuOF exhibited the strongest luminescence. However, the intensity was relatively weak because of the resonance energy transfer. To suppress this, LaOF containing Eu3+ was dispersed in a ZnO matrix. Intense luminescence was observed in the ZnO/LaOF:Eu thin film.
