In this study, we introduce the evaluation method for the relaxing effect of chewing gum by using electroencephalogram (EEG). Commonly, it is said that chewing gum reduces stress and negative moods. However, the relationship between chewing gum and relaxation has not been adequately validated. Therefore, we aim to quantitatively investigate how chewing gum affects EEG. Moreover, we conduct a subjective survey in the form of a psychological questionnaire. The experimental results show that there are differences before and after gum chewing in EEG and the questionnaire. We confirm that there is a correlation between EEG and the mental state of subject by gum chewing.
