title = "Effect of electric double layer on near-wall ph in microfluidic device measured by nano-LIF",
abstract = "The present study experimentally investigated the effect of electric double layer (EDL) on pH in the vicinity of microchannel wall. Nanoscale laser induced fluorescence (nano-LIF) imaging technique was utilized for near-wall pH measurement. The fluorescent dye whose intensity depends on pH value was excited by the evanescent wave and the intensity was converted to pH value via a calibration curve. This technique was first applied to the steady flow field and additionally to the unsteady mixing flow field. The obtained results indicate that the near-wall pH distribution is totally lower than bulk pH due to the EDL.",
