We propose a novel structure of a waveguide frequency doubler using a guiding layer of ZnS film deposited on a pyrex glass with grating couplers and a top layer of a nonlinear organic crystal, 2-Furyl Methacrylic Anhydride (FMA). In this structure, the nonlinear organic crystal can be incorporated in a waveguide in spite of its inferior tailorbility to inorganic crystals and the negative contribution can be avoided, which is caused by spatially oscillating electric field distribution in nonlinear optical (NLO) active layer. A phase-matched second harmonic generation between 1064 nm fundamental TE0 mode and second harmonic TE1 mode is demonstrated in an experiment using the largest nonlinear coefficient, d33 of FMA.
