Global climate change poses many threats, significantly impacting crop productivity and food security. Digitalization in agriculture is envisioned to address the multi-faceted problems the agricultural sector faces, such as eliminating informa-tion asymmetry amongst diverse stakeholders, lowering operational and transaction costs, improving market access, enabling finance access, and promoting sustainable farming practices. The readiness of digital technologies is a critical factor in the agri-cultural sector transformation. The landscape and categories of technologies used in agriculture significantly vary across countries. This chapter delves into the case of India and Japan, their unique agritech categories, potential, and policies enabling the sprouting of agritech startups that develop them.
