High-Resolution Remote Sensing and Visibility Analysis Method for Smart Environment Design

This chapter focuses on energy and hedonic analyses, with respect to the management of smart environments. The application of remote sensing in energy analysis has been summarized by Liang et al. (2010). Notably, although remote sensing data are often applied in the hedonic analysis of 2D natural resources, the application of remote sensing in the hedonic analysis of 3D views remains limited. Thus, the remainder of this chapter focuses on hedonic analysis. First, we review the commonly used 3D view evaluation approaches and then reviewed the hedonic analyses of the 3D views. Subsequently, we conduct a hedonic analysis of 3D views, including open, green, and ocean views, using the condominium and LiDAR data of Yokohama City, Japan.
