The former was established for Chinese students and the latter for students from Southeast Asia. The 211 students who were invited by the Ministry of Great Hast Asia (Dai-tooashoo) in 1943 and 1944 were known äs Nanpoo-tokubetsu-ryuugakusei 'Special foreign students from the South'. Funding Information: the financial support of the Ministry, Japan Broadcasting Corporation Funding Information: 2. Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI, Tsuusanshoo). The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS, Kaigai-gijutsusha-kenshuu-kyookai\ established in 1959, receives financial support from MITI and promotes nongovernmental technical cooperation.
