MR imaging of extratesticular masses

In general, US and MR imaging are important techniques for evaluating scrotal masses. Although US remains the mainstay of scrotal imaging because of its wide availability and low cost, MR imaging can provide additional useful information in many cases. The purpose of this pictorial review is to describe various MR imaging features of extratesticular masses, thereby facilitating accurate diagnosis and adequate treatment. The added information that MR imaging provides can allow a conservative approach to be adopted, often obviating the need for surgery or permitting local resection or enucleation of a lesion, thereby avoiding orchiectomy.
