New laser coronary angioplasty system using manipulatable angioscope and CO laser with infrared glass fiber

抄録

A new laser coronary angioplasty system using CO laser and a manipulatable angloscope was described. CO laser was employed as therapy laser due to its strong vaporization capability and flexible fiber delivery characteristics. The medical CO laser equipment which emitted 5um in wavelength was developed. The manipulatable angioscope catheter of which dimensions were 1.8 mm in diameter and 0.9 m in length realized precise targeting of laser irradiation and intraluminal diagnosis. The control system prevented failure laser irradiation, and fiber thermal destruction.
