In this paper, optical synchronous code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems with M-ary pulse-position modulation (PPM) signaling using equal-weight orthogonal code (EWOC) are investigated. Sets of signature sequence based on modified prime sequences enable variable throughput transmission. We derive the bit error rate (BER) of the system from the probability density function of the correlation value. We show the performance tradeoff among the number of users, throughput and BER.
