We reviewed 45 eyes which underwent simultaneous surgery by penetrating keratoplasty, extracapsular cataract extraction and posterior chamber lens implantation. The error between calculated and actual postoperative refraction averaged -0.08±2.46D. The error was within ±2D in 22 eyes, 49%, and was within ±3D in 34 eyes, 76%. Keratometric values at 6 months after surgery averaged 7.38±0.35 mm. The above error was positively correlated with the changes in keratometric values before and after surgery. The findings show that the keratometric value of 7.38 mm be used in calculating the power of intraocular lens. Further, improved predictability of postoperative keratometric data will decrease the refractive error.
