In order to establish the sustainable chemical recycling process of poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA) using montmorillonite K5, repolymerizability of lactic acid oligomer (OLLA) was studied with respect to the molecular weight of the regenerated PLLA. OLLA with different Mn was prepared. Then the oligomer was repolymerized by the conventional chemical catalysts to synthesize PLLA. It was confirmed that the Mw of the regenerated PLLA decreased when the Mn of the OLLA increased to greater than 400. On the other hand, the recovery of the PLLA increased with the increasing Mn of the OLLA. These results suggested that the solubility of Sn(Oct)2 towards OLLA affected the Mw of the regenerated PLLA.
