N2 - A case of sporotrichosis, which showed resistance to treatment with oral potassium iodide and local beat treatment but which responded to itraconazole, is reported. The patient presented an ulcerated, infiltrated, large plaque with scaly crusts on the left cheek and several reddish nodules on the neck. Two weeks after the oral administration of itraconazole 100 mg/day, the lesions were dramatically flattened, and 1 month later a negative fungus culture was obtained. No recurrence was observed at 3 months after stopping treatment. Itraconazole proved to be an adequate alternative- treatment in iodine-resistant sporotrichosis.
