(4aR,10aS)-(—)-8-Methoxy-l,l,4a-trimethyl-2-oxo -1,2,3,4,4 a, 9,10,10a-octahydrophenanthrene, a useful intermediate for the synthesis of optically active diterpenes, was synthesized from (S)-3-hydroxy-2,2-dimethylcyclohexanone.
