N2 - A noninvasive transcutaneous blood glucose monitoring system using suction effusion fluid (SEF) as a sample for an ion-sensitive field effect transistor (ISFET) glucose sensor is reported. With this system, blood glucose changes were monitored during a 75-g oral glucose tolerance test, and without glucose loading, on normal volunteers and diabetics. The results show good correlation (with some delay) of the SEF glucose change behind the blood glucose change. The system may be miniaturized and made portable by integrating the suction apparatus with the ISFET glucose sensor.
