We have developed a 2D numerical simulation program for the analysis of linear gas divertor experiments. In order to validate the model, we apply the simulation program to the analysis of the PISCES-A gas divertor experiments[1]. For a given kTe profile from the experimental data, reasonable agreement between the numerical results and the experimental results has been obtained. A stationary detached ionization front has been observed and the plasma pressure has been peaked near the ionization front in the simulation. A plasma flow reversal has been also observed in the reversed pressure gradient as in the experiments. In the present study, we have focused our main attention on the density and momentum balance in detached state. In the future, the analysis for the electron and ion power balance will be also required for more detailed understanding of the detachment mechanism in the experiments.
